NRM Caucus members from Kinyamaseke Town Council call for a constituency party conference

BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

Members of Kinyamaseke Town Council NRM Caucus in Bukonzo County East, Kasese District have appealed to their District Executive Committee to organize some joint constituency conferences as early as possible  as the only platform to handle arising political issues.

They sounded the appeal yesterday during their Caucus meeting that was held at Kinyamaseke Archdeaconry headquarters.  During the meeting, the members realized that the main reason why the party was not performing well in the General Elections were the conflicts that arise before, during and after the primary elections.

According to them, ever since the multiparty system was re-introduced in 2005, they have been witnessing some internal conflicts, a reason why the NRM party candidate in the constituency has never made it to the Parliament of Uganda.

The MRM members thus called upon all the aspiring candidates on the position of the District Chairperson and Parliamentary Seat to be part of the conference that they are requesting the party Executive Committee at the district level to organize.

Led by the Town Council NRM Chairperson, Mr. Samuel Bwambale Kibati, the members further called upon the National NRM Secretariat to conduct the primary elections early next year in an attempt to give party members time to reconcile and harmonize after the internal elections.

They, however, asked the District NRM Office to play a neutral role during the primary elections rather than imposing to them a candidate of their choice.

Mrs. Sarah Ithungu Baleke, the party flag bearer for the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, who attended the caucus meeting, observed the need for the party leaders at all levels to intensify their mobilization and harmonization strategies ahead of the primary elections.

Dr. Julius Monday Bwambale Rude, the Bukonzo East NRM Chairperson and flag bearer, urged the party members to remain focused and maintain the party spirit.
