The Electoral Commission’s Supervisor in-charge of the Mid-Western Region has urged the already nominated political candidates for the 2026 General Elections in Kasese district to stick to all the rules and regulations in order to avoid being penalized.
Ismeal AtwijukireTakih says the Electoral Commission has guidelines meant to guide the candidates during the current period of elections.
According to him, they must avoid engaging themselves in church fundraisings and early campaigns, arguing that failure to adhere to the above leads to disqualification.
He sounded the remarks today morning while briefing the press at Hima Town Council headquarters. He noted that any politicians who might act contrary to the set guidelines would face penalties.
He told the press that over 800 people have so far been nominated on the different political positions.
Some of the candidates who were nominated today included Selestine Siwako, who were nominated for the position of L. C III Chairperson for Kahokya sub-county on an independent ticket.
He told the press that his leadership would focus on improved health services and provision of safe and clean water to the communities.
DarausiNzitatira who was nominated for the position of Male Councillor representing Karusandara sub-county revealed that hid lower local government was still facing a lot of challenges including floods which affect the agricultural sector negatively.
Venesio Masereka who was nominated for the position of Male Youth Councillorrepresenting Kilembe sub-county on the NRM ticket and Wilson Masereka who was nominated for the position of Male Youth Councillorrepresenting Maliba Sub- County on an independent ticket said they would work towards empowering the youth through encouraging them to embrace vocational skills for self employment.
