More roads to be tarmacked under USMID Program in Kasese

BY EDITOR

Kasese Municipality Mayor, Chance Kahindo has revealed that under the USMID program they will work on more roads in an attempt to beautify and develop the town.

Mr. Kahindo made the revelation Tuesday while addressing the council members during their sitting that was held at the Central Division Council Hall in Kasese town.

Kahindo mentioned the roads to be worked upon including Mutanywana, Mugurusi, Rwisamba, Saluti, Lincoln and Katiri among others. According to him, all these roads will be tarmacked immediately after the completion of the roads that are currently under construction in the urban centre.

Kahindo also noted that in the 2023/2024 financial year, council would also work on the Rwenzori Square and Nyakasanga Stadium so that it is standardized.

However, the Mayor stressed that in the ending 2022/2023 financial year, council registered a number of challenges related failure by the vendors at Kasese Central Market to pay money for the market dues and failure by government to permanently resettle the flood victims who were displaced by floods from River Nyamwamba and are temporarily encamped at Muhokya in Muhokya Town Council.

During the same Council Sitting, the councilors noted that during the ending financial year, there has been a challenge related to the deactivation of a credit line for drugs at Kilembe Mines Hospital, asking government to expedite the process of reactivating it. However, Mr. Geoffrey Bamanyisa, the Town Clerk for Kasese Municipality responded that he had already received a notification from the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health directing him to alert health workers at Kilembe Mine Hospital to prepare for relocation to other health facilities.
