Minister Kabbyanga praises UPDF for protecting the people

The State Minister for ICT and National Guidance has lauded the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) for sacrificing and upholding the role of protecting Ugandans and their counterparts in some parts of Africa.

Minister Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kiime made the remarks over the weekend while officiating at the Tarehe Sita belated celebrations for Kasese District at Mpondwe Moslem Primary School in Mpondwe –Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District.

Kabbyanga noted that the efforts, sacrifice and willingness of the UPDF to protect the citizens and their property have influenced peace and socio-economic transformation among the people in the country.

Kabbyanga reiterated that the UPDF personnel immediately after an attack on a secondary school in Nyabugando, Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council in 2023, they killed twelve ADF rebels and captured one alive who was subsequently sentenced.

The Junior ICT Minister also applauded the army, police, UWA and immigration for exercising high level of professionalism, noting that it has created way for their collaborations with the civilians. 

Col. Saulo Nabimanya, the 222 Mountain Brigade Commander reaffirmed that it was the responsibility of all Ugandans to uphold peace and security in their communities in order to realize sustainable development.

He was happy that with the support of the local people, they were able to trace and put out of action the assailants who had crossed into Uganda and wreaked mayhem.

River Mpondwe Cell LCI Chairperson, Mr. Hassan Baluku thanked President Museveni for instituting an army that cooperates with the civilians as their strategic source of information.
