BY ABDALA MASEREKA

Members of the Christian Woman Fellowship yesterday morning carried out a cleanliness exercise at Kasese Central Market in Kasese town with a call on the vendors to maintain sanitation.

Ms Faith Makombo, the Chairperson for the Christian Women Fellowship at St. Paul’s Deanery in South Rwenzori Diocese revealed that they decided to embrace cleaning the market as a way of not only spreading the gospel of Christ but also to ensure conserving the environment for a safe living.

Ms Makombo also noted that cleaning the market was meant to awaken people’s minds to fulfil their responsibilities towards keeping the public places clean.

She attributed climate change to poor management of waste especially plastic materials and appealed to the members of the public to have a sense of responsibility through shying away from the unnecessary disposal of wastes.
