Mr. Francis Mugisa Kithulha, one of the five people who participated in the recently concluded NRM primary elections aimed at choosing the party flag bearer for the position of Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament has officially declared his intention to come as an independent candidate in the 2026 General Elections.
Kithulha who came in the second position garnered 6,247 votes after the incumbent Ferigo Kambale who was declared winner after garnering 7,561 votes.
Addressing the press today afternoon in Kasese town, Kithulha who claimed that he won the election with 8,732 votes revealed that he would participate in the General Elections as an independent candidate.
According to him, his supporters were allegedly intimidated while the voters’ registers were tempered with hence a need for him to contest as an independent candidate but NRM leaning.
Kithulha said he would petition the party Electoral Commission and leave his supporters who are ready to vote for him to support the opposition candidate, adding that his votes would accord him justice.
He, however, asked his supporters to remain calm, urging them to look for votes in a peaceful way as well as avoiding hate speech.
