Kasese Woman MP reveals to plans to establish a carpentry workshop at Kayanja Fish Landing Site

Hon. Florence Kabugho, the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament has revealed plans to establish a carpentry workshop at Kayanja Fish Landing Site in Nyakiyumbu Sub- County with an aim of equipping the out of school youth with vocational skills.

Hon. Kabugho says the workshop would help the boys in the area to acquire skills in carpentry and joinery in addition to the tailoring and salon workshops that are already existing in the area to enable the acquire skills for self reliance.

The legislator also pledged to establish a skills centre for salon management at Kahendero Fish Landing Site to benefit the community members.

Kabugho, who was yesterday at Kayanja and Kahendero Fish Landing Sites to attend community meetings aimed at acquainting herself with the right information about the crocodile attacks in the two areas, also donated netballs and footballs to the community members as a way of promoting local sports and talents among the youth.

At the Kayanja meeting, the youth represented by Abdul Bwambale, the area Youth Chairperson had reported that there were lacking support as far as sports is concerned.

Bwambale also noted that the landing site has no other economic activity apart from fishing, a reason why the youth should acquire vocational skills as pledged by Hon. Kabugho to establish a carpentry workshop in the area.

Some of the people who have so far acquired skills in salon management and tailoring with sponsorship from Hon. Kabugho reported progress and hailed her for such a wise decision.

Mr. Yokonia Ndungu whose wife has attained skills in tailoring from the skills centre already established in the area reported a progress as far as financial stability is concerned.
