Kasese residents warned against disposing garbage along water drainage channels

BY ELIZA KABUGHO & GODWIN KAMOSO

The Kasese Municipal Council leadership has warned the residents against the practice of disposing garbage along the newly constructed roads and water drainage channels within the urban centre.

Mr. Chance Kahindo, the Kasese Municipality Mayor sounded the warning yesterday shortly after inspecting Crescent Road in Nyamwamba Division and Kirembe -Wasewanaba Road in the Central Division.

But Kahindo was dismayed after discovering that some people had stated dumping garbage along the roads and destroyed some newly planted trees which are meant to beautify the town.

It was incumbent upon this that the Mayor sounded a stern warning to the people to stop misusing the roads but embrace the purpose for which they are being constructed.

He also called upon the residents in the urban centre to use zero grazing as they continue rearing the goats, arguing that failure to adhere to the advice would be to automatic arrest since the loitering animals destroy the already planted flowers and trees.

In his remarks, the Municipal Secretary for Works and Technical Services, Mr. John Kisembo Siriwayo, appealed to the community in Kirembe Ward to withstand all the challenges that might come along with the construction of a road in the area.

According to him, the current rains have caused a delay in spreading murrum that has been heaped along the road.
