Residents in Kasese district have been asked to remain peaceful and law abiding as they prepare for the forthcoming NRM primary elections for the District Chairperson and Councillors among other positions slated for July 24, 2025.
The remarks were sounded yesterday by Mr. Yosia Baluku, the Coordinator for Rwenzori Consortium for Civic Competence (RWECO) while addressing the press at the organization’s head offices in Kahokya Cell of Kirembe Ward in the Central Division of Kasese Municipality.
Baluku who explained that as a civic organization, they were mindful about the rights of women, children and other groups of people especially those with disabilities whom according to him are abused during elections appealed to the concerned government officials to take charge of the incidents that normally happen during elections.
Last Thursday, the members of the NRM party went to the polls to choose the flag bearers for the positions of Constituency Member of Parliament and District Woman Member of Parliament. But Baluku claims that the primary elections were marred by a number of challenges that the organization calls for their solution by the NRM party since they affect their targeted categories of people.
He used the same opportunity to reveal that as RWECO in partnership with Good Hope Foundation, RIDE Africa, KALI and RiC NET, they would continue advocating for free, fair and peaceful electoral processes.
Mr. Obed Kule from Good Hope Foundation based in Kiburara, Kisinga Sub- County said it would be good for such petty issues to be solved within their respective political parties.
