Leaders of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Kasese district have come under criticism with a section of members especially those vying for some elective positions accusing them of allegedly sidelining with certain candidates competing for the party flags ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Today, Sam Baluku, one of the Kasese Municipality Parliamentary hopefuls, held a press conference at Bamboocha Gardens in Kasese town and accused the District Party Boss, Mr. Bryans Basiisa of allegedly sidelining with some candidates yet he was supposed to treat all of them equally.
Baluku also told the press that his campaign posters had been defaced while posters belonging to other candidates are intact, calling upon the party leaders to investigate the matter before it goes out of hand.
He used the same platform to clear the rumours in circulation indicating that he had withdrawn from the race. According to him, such an information was aimed at destroying his political career.
Addressing the same press conference, Isaac Mumbere Injiwenewene, one of the Busongora County South Parliamentary hopefuls, revealed that he had also started experiencing similar challenges, asking the party leaders to harmonize their concerns before disorganizing their political party as they prepare for the 2026 General Elections.
Asked to comment about the allegations, Bryans Basiisa, the Kasese District NUP Chairperson said he would issue an official comment as the party has secured her flag bearers.
