Kasese Municipal Council bans kiosks from the urban center

BY JOACKIM KULE

Kasese Municipal Council has banned the erection of kiosks (containers) within the urban centre, giving an ultimatum of 14 days to the people who have constructed such structures to have them demolished.

This, according to the urban authorities is aimed at creating room for the businessmen and women to occupy buildings belonging to the entrepreneurs.

Mr. Wilfred Baluku Pokopoko, the Municipal Physical Planner, says that they are implementing a council resolution of 2009 which the current council also upheld in 2025, restricting the developers from using containers in the town because they are erected without approved plans.

Speaking to the press today afternoon at his office, Baluku revealed that they had so far impounded about 04 containers which the developers were in the process of erecting.

The Physical Planner also revealed that the government hadrestricted the developers from constructing houses that do not have approved plans.

He explained that the government would mandate the people to first get survey reports, go to the authorities to present sketches for their proposed building plans and then get an official permit allowing them to construct their structures.

Baluku also called for cooperation from the people so that they work together without compromising the law.
