The Muhokya Sub-county Chairperson – elect in Kasese district, Asanairi Mugusu commonly known as Challenger has threatened to sue two Electoral Commission Officials and the former NRM candidate in the recently concluded elections for allegedly trying to alter the election results in an attempt to rig and overturn his victory.
Mugusu, who was the NUP candidate, was re-elected for the second time as the Muhokya Sub-county Chairperson.
However, Mugusu accuses the Presiding Officer who was deployed at Nyamirami Church of Uganda A-L Polling Station, the Muhokya Sub-county Election Supervisor and the former NRM candidate of the alleged connivance in an attempt to alter the results on the declaration forms.
In an interview with Messiah Radio on Tuesday, Mugusu said despite declaring him as the winner of the election that took place on February 04,2026, he is dismayed by the Electoral Commission’s decision of not punishing the perpetrators of vote rigging who according to him tarnish the good image of Uganda.
According to him, dragging such people to the courts of law can serve as a lesson and a good example to the rest of the would-be offenders to learn from and enable the country to have free and fair elections in future.
On his part, Bryans Basisa, the Kasese District NUP Chairperson concurred with Mugusu’s decision, describing vote rigging as unlawful. He asked Mugusu to go ahead and file his law suit.
Efforts to get a comment from the accused persons were futile by press time. ENDS
