The High Court sitting at Rukoki has worked on over 100 criminal and 24 civil cases in a period of two months with their highest sentences being 40 years.
Hon. Justice Lawrance Tweyanze, the Kasese Resident Judge made the revelation today afternoon and said they managed to handle such a number of cases because of unity, cooperation and love among the Judicial Officials.
While addressing the press prior to the court session, Hon. Justice Tweyanze who later presided over the court session sentenced Mr. Gilbert Thembo, Geofred Masereka Nzoghu and Jennifer Biira to 40 years in Mubuku Government Prison for killing Azam Muhindo, 23, a resident of Kanyamunyu – Kathoma village in Karambi sub-county, Bukonzo County West.
Court heard that in the night of September 2024, Muhindo got a call informing her to find them in the nearby town.
According to the eye witness whose identified have been withheld from the press, sad her mother directed them to sleep as she was going to see the person who had just called her. However, after an hour, three people were seen while carrying Muhindo’s lifeless body, opened her house and pulled the bed sheet that the witness was using.
They hanged the body in the house for the people to believe that the deceased committed suicide.
The acting Deputy Registrar, George Mfitondinda, appealed to the community members to be availing witnesses in order to help court continue with the cases for justice to prevail.
