Kasese FDC members manage to collect food and none food relief items despite a caution by police

The members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Kasese district today managed to collect relief items from the community members to support the victims of land wrangles who are currently encamped at the Booma Grounds in Kasese town.

The affected persons who today completed one week at their temporality established camp allege that they were evicted from their ancestral lands illegally and after suffering for a long period of time waiting for the government’s intervention to yield positive fruits but in vain, they decided to come to the RDC’s office and subsequently camp at the Booma Grounds as they wait for a long- lasting solution from the Central Government.

Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese District FDC Chairperson told the press today afternoon at his office in Kasese town that despite the heavy police deployment, they managed to collect an assortment of food stuffs, clothes and other items to help the affected persons during the hard times while in the camp.

He also appealed to the community members to continue giving in a helping hand to the victims so that they manage the situation in which they are living in the camp.

While addressing the land victims at the Booma Grounds in Kasese town, IP Joackim Bwakya, who also doubles as the In-charge of Operations in Kasese Municipality, advised the camp occupants to maintain peace as government looks forward to working on their problems.
