Kasese District Council has laid budget estimates of over shillings 116 billion for the Financial Year 2025/2026.
The budget estimates highlight an increment of shilling nine billion compared to the current Financial Year 2024/2025.
Ms Sharon Musoki, the Secretary for Finance, Planning and Administration while reading the budget speech on behalf of the District Chairperson noted that they were expecting to get the said amount of money from three major sources.
The sources according to her include local revenue collections (5.3 billion) amounting to 46% of the total budget, central government transfers (94.5 billion) rated at 91.1 % and donor funding (4.5 billion) translating to 3.5%.
She revealed that if realized, the money would facilitate a number of activities in the sectors of health, education, production, works and technical services among others.
Musoki, however, cited a challenge of the inadequate resource envelope that is leading to a higher number of unfunded projects.
Mr. Johnson Mayora, the District Council Speaker who chaired the session that was held on Tuesday at the multipurpose hall in Nyamwamba Division, welcomed the laid budget estimates, adding that they would send them back to the standing committees for scrutiny.
