Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court further remands 102 suspects of the November 01, 2025 attacks on military installations until April 15, 2026

The Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court has further remanded 102 suspects of the November 01, 2025 coordinated attacks on military installations in the Rwenzori Sub-region until April 15, 2026.

It is said that in the wee hours of Saturday November 01, 2025, while at diverse areas in the Rwenzori Sub-region including Kasese Town, Rugendabara – Kikongo Town Council, Bundibugyo Ntoroko and Fort-portal Tourism City among other places, Josephine Biira alias Nyabahasa and 101 other accused persons carried out coordinated attacks on security installations.

They also allegedly attacked Malindi and Kakuka military detachments   in Bundibugyo District, killing a UPDF soldier and his wife.

Yesterday morning, the suspects reappeared in court via zoom chaired by His Worship, George Mfitundinda, where their charges of treason, murder, attempted murder, aggravated robbery, terrorism financing and trafficking in humans among others were further mentioned.

During the session, counsel Barnabas Tinkasiimire, who is representing some of the accused persons, asked the State to disclose evidence pinning the suspects, alleging that he had only been able to access the charge sheet without a police file.

Prosecution led by the State Attorney, asked the defense side to remain patient, noting that inquiries into the matter were ongoing and the screening of evidence was underway.

He guided that disclosure cannot happen at this stage because the trial of the suspects had not yet started, awaiting committal to the International Crimes Division of the High Court. They were further remanded to Maluku Government Prison in Mbale and Luzira Prison respectively where they are reportedly being held. ENDS
