Kasese business community challenged to embrace sanitation

BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

Members of the Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum yesterday carried out a cleanliness exercise in Kasese town in preparation for this year’s Mt. Rwenzori Tusker Lite Marathon and the Rwenzori Theluji slated for August with a call on the business community to embrace sanitation around their premises.

While flagging off the exercise, the Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Ferigo Kambale described sanitation and hygiene as one of the key things that the business community should embrace in order for them to be able to attract more clients especially in the tourism industry.

Mr. Chance Kahindo, the Municipality Mayor, who also participated in the exercise, disclosed that the urban centre is currently being ranked the cleanest town in the Western region, a position he said should be guarded through proper disposal of garbage and all forms of polythene bags.

Mr. Christopher Kabagambe, the Kasese Municipality Health Inspector hailed the members of Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum for their efforts towards making Kasese town clean through organizing for such activities. According to him, if cleanliness is maintained, Kasese Municipal Council would easily be elevated to a City status.

Dr. William Mugisha Kihire, the General Secretary for Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum, appealed to the youth to consider investing their resources in some tourism related businesses in a bid to address the challenge of unemployment.
