Kabira Foundation, a nongovernmental organization in Uganda has launched another phase of constructing a three- classroom block at Nyakanengo Primary School in Bwesumbu Sub-county, Busongora County North in Kasese district.

Nyakanengo Primary School which was started in 1985 and was later grant-aided by government of Uganda in 1997 is an Anglican Church of Uganda founded institution.

Led by Mr. Otim Kamilo, the Programs Manager at Kabira Foundation, on January 19 this year the organization commissioned the construction works of six classrooms in the first phase and pledged to mobilize another funding to have three more classrooms constructed.

Speaking during the launch yesterday, Mr. Kamilo explained that despite the first phase being incomplete, they secured another funding to facilitate the second phase so as to save the learners from the life of studying under the trees while others from dilapidated structures put up by the parents.

He also noted that they were still lobbying for funding to put up a kitchen, a solar powered water source and latrine with wash rooms for the girl children.

Mr. Boniface Drum, a teacher at the institution who represented the Head Teacher told the donors that following the sorry state of the structures at the institution of learning, they have registered a low enrolment.

He also said that the schools lacks good latrines, water and has dusty classrooms.

Mr. John Rugarama, the Kasese District Inspector of Schools in-charge of Special Needs Education requested the donors to also visit other schools across that are also facing similar challenges and offer them the necessary support.
