The Kasese Resident Judge Hon. Justice Lawrence Tweyanze has issued a stern warning to unqualified individuals masquerading as advocates of the high and other subordinate courts.
Justice Tweyanze says he has noted with concern that Kasese has so many bush lawyers who are always loitering around court premises and offering empty premises to litigants; a practice which he said compromises the effective delivery of justice.
According to him, these unauthorized individuals often prey on vulnerable citizens in disguise of giving them legal advice and end-up fleecing them of their hard-earned money.
He has advised such individuals to, with immediate effect, refrain from such acts and instead to go to law school and study to be enrolled as advocates of the high court lest they face the wrath of the law.
MrGeoffrey Chan Masereka, from Masereka Chan & Co. Advocates concurred with Justice Tweyanze on the need to stamp-out bush lawyers from the legal fraternity in the Kasese High Court Circuit.
