The hearing of the matter in which town businessman, Mr. Bernard Chance is battling attempted murder and malicious damage today flopped at the Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Mr. Chance, who is the proprietor of Skyz Lounge, a popular hang-out place in Kasese town was meant to appear before the Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court for mention of his malicious damage and attempted murder charges.

It is alleged that on February 01, 2024, Mr. Chance attempted to knock dead Ms Gladys Ainebyona Nandejje using his car registration number UBD 043A Mercedes Benz at the Kasese Central Police station.

On March 06, 2024, the Kasese Chief Magistrate, Her Worship Betty Ajok declined to give the accused bail on grounds that he was facing charges beyond the jurisdiction of court; she instead directed the accused to return to court today.

However, Mr. Chance was not presented to court as the date reportedly coincided with a retreat for judicial staff in Fort Portal Tourism City.

Defence Lawyer, Mr. Geoffrey Mishele from Bagyenda and Co. Advocates, in a telephone interview confirmed the development and appealed to the relatives of the accused to remain calm reiterating his commitment to ensuring that his client gets justice.
