The Government of Uganda has introduced a financing scheme to support private large -scale commercial farmers.

The scheme that aims at enhancing food security, strengthening supply chains and driving agro-industrialization by providing interest free loans will officially be implemented in the forthcoming 2025/2026 Financial Year.

The revelation was made today afternoon by the Busongora County North Member of Parliament, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa while addressing the local leaders from Mubuku Town Council during their joint meeting that was held at the Town Council headquarters.

Kitanywa noted that government was increasing the number of socio- economic programs in order to alleviate people from poverty.

He also told the leaders that within the coming year, government will also offer grants to the people living with disabilities focusing on promoting awareness, access to ICT for their socio-economic inclusion.

The Mubuku Town Council District Councilor, Elijah Oketch revealed that the people were still lacking civic education about the procedures of accessing such opportunities initiated by government.

He noted that like other programs, the Parish Development Model, hasn’t been successfully implemented arguing the implementers are exploiting the beneficiaries by allegedly giving them less money.
