FDC’s Saulo Maate condemns the ruling NRM for allegedly wasting taxpayers’ money

BY ISAAC MUMBERE

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Commissioner in-charge of Rwenzori Sub region has lashed at the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for allegedly wasting the taxpayers’ money during the recently concluded exercise of updating and displaying her members’ register.

The exercise that started on March 13 and ended on March 17 in all villages across the country saw the party members visit their registration centres to update their membership into the ruling party.

But the exercise seems not to have gone well with Mr. Saulo Maate who has since described it as a waste of some taxpayers’ money.

According to him, NRM used shillings 30 billion to implement the recent exercise.

While addressing the press at Kasese District FDC offices in Kasese town, Maate also said they were surprised when they saw some confusion and antagonism among the NRM members during the exercise.

Responding to Mr. Maate’s concerns, the Kasese District NRM Secretary for Publicity, Mr. Johnson Kamalha Kalyasa, acknowledged that the party used money to facilitate the exercise. He, however, didn’t disclose the total amount of money that was allocated to run the exercise.

Mr. Kalyasa, on the other hand, noted that he was happy that some FDC members were closely working with NRM officials to an extent of knowing the total amount of money that was used to facilitate the exercise.
