FDC members to stage a demonstration on September 12

BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party in Kasese district has written a letter to the Rwenzori East Regional Police Commander notifying his office of planned peaceful demonstration slated for September 12.

A letter dated September 02, 2024, addressed to the Regional Police Commander and signed by Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the District FDC Chairperson indicates that the party members want to demonstrate over the alleged misuse of public resources and neglect of the District Council Hall.

The party members therefore want to express their concerns through a peaceful demonstration over the District Administration’s decision to conduct council sittings in a private hotel instead of repairing the vandalized District Council Hall.

Kabuku indicates that the party members will march from the FDC offices in Kasese town on Alexander Street to the hotel where the council will be held from to deliver their petition to the District Council Speaker.

He says they expect approximately 200 participants, asking police to provide them with the necessary security and support so as to have an orderly and smooth procession.

The same letter is also copied to the RDC, District Chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer, District Council Speaker and the Leader of Opposition.
