Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has donated an assortment of relief items to the flood victims encamped at Muhokya Trading Centre in Muhokya Town Council, Kasese district with a call on government to expedite the process of resettling them.
Today afternoon, a team from the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi led by the party President, Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat and the party’s Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi joined a delegation from Kasese district led by the Woman MP, Florence Kabugho and donated 800 kilograms of cassava flour and 200 kilograms of beans.
In his remarks, Amuriat who sympathized with the flood victims, said government should resettle them the same way it did to the mudslide victims in Bududa.
Hon. Nathan Nadala Mafabi and Florence Kabugho promised to remind the government about the issue of resettling the flood victims given the fact that they were passing through a lot of hardships while in the camp.
In her speech, the Camp Chairperson, Rehema Aryema, revealed that the people who are currently staying in the camp are at risk of acquiring diseases, arguing that they no longer have latrines to help them answer the nature’s call.
She also observed the need for the government to give them a special attention as far as benefiting from the Parish Development Model programme is concerned.
