Elections Constables cautioned against criminality

BY MATHIUS KAUHUNGU

Election Police Constables have been cautioned against involving themselves in acts of criminality and violation of Police Standing Orders as they execute their duties during the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.

The caution was sounded today morning by the Rwenzori East Regional Police Commander, SSP Denis Odoch while addressing the newly recruited Election Police Constables who had completed a 10- day training at Asamu Model Secondary in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality.

SSP Adoch, who urged them to uphold patriotism, asked them to work towards averting crimes in villages as well as ensuring a peaceful General Election.

The Regional Police Commander also told the newly recruited constables to respect the police uniform that they are yet to be given and cautioned them against the practice of using it in activities that might violate the law. According to him, such acts might land them into arrests and detentions.

He subsequently instructed them to always listen to the guidance from their superiors and also work towards achieving their primary target of ensuring a peaceful election.

Henry Kabiriri, the Kasese Assistant Resident District Commissioner in-charge of Busongora County, asked the newly recruited constables to become agents of positive mindset change to the community members that they were going to serve.

Detective ASP Samson Higenyi, the Katwe Kabatoro Divisional CID, who was also among the instructors at the training, encouraged the constables to work hard and exhibit a high level of discipline in their respective communities.

Over 2,000 Election Police Constables successfully completed training pending deployment. ENDS
