The construction works of Bwera – Kyogha – Nyakimasa and Bwera – Ihandiro roads in Bukonzo County West, Kasese district have officially been launched.
The two roads totaling to 11.5 kilometers whose construction works were launched on Wednesday at Kabusongora Church of Uganda in Bwera Sub-county are expected to consume over shillings 300 million.
The shillings 300 million is part of one billion Road Rehabilitation Grant for the Financial Year 2023/2024.
Mr. Ronald Asiimwe, the acting Kasese District Engineer, explained that the scope of works on the two roads would involve heavy grading on some parts, shaping works, opening of offshoots and mitre drain, installation of the reinforced culverts and spot gravelling of the badly affected parts.
Mr. Robert Mbusa Kisunzu, the Kasese District Secretary for Works and Technical Services, revealed that in addition to rehabilitating roads in Bukonzo County West, they would also rehabilitate Old Bwera Water Project to service the population with sufficient safe and clean drinking water.
Mr. Jorom Kisolhu, the Ihandiro Sub-county Chief, urged the residents not to temper with the offshoots that would be created during construction.
Officiating at the function, Lt. Joe Walusimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, discouraged the residents from entertaining opposition politicians who might come to them with a message that the ruling NRM party has done nothing.
