Commissioners from the Office of the President who are currently on a nationwide tour aimed at monitoring and assessing government programs and projects have hailed security operatives for working closely with the local population of Kamwenge to wipe out the ADF rebels from the district.

The team led by Dr. Sr. Mary Grace Akiror, the in-charge of Resident District/ City Commissioners (RDCs/RCCs) in Northern Uganda and Maj. Martha Asiimwe, the Head of RDC’s Secretariat were in Kamwenge district on Tuesday to ascertain if the leaders were implementing key government projects especially in the health, education, production and works sectors among others well.

While in the district, the team recalled that in December last year, at least 13 people were confirmed dead in two separate attacks by suspected ADF rebels in Kamwenge when the remnants started terrorizing the Rwenzori sub-region.

While addressing the political and technical wings at the district headquarters in Kamwenge Town Council, Martha Asiimwe, applauded the security operatives and residents for doing a great job, adding that no development could be realized when the district was insecure.

She asked all the stakeholders in the district including politicians, technical staff and opinion leaders among others to embrace government’s pro-people projects like Emyooga and the Parish Development Model in order to realize development.

After their inspections in Kamwenge and Kitagwenda districts, the commissioners will proceed to Rubirizi district for the same cause.
