Ms Mary Marylyn Kabugho, one of the hopefuls for the Kasese District Woman Parliamentary seat has applauded the Church of Uganda for establishing churches closer to the people in their respective communities.
Kabugho sounded the remarks on Sunday while speaking to our reporter shortly after the inauguration of St. James Basenia Church of Uganda in St. Paul’s Deanery, South Rwenzori Diocese into a parish status.
Kabugho explained that extending churches closer to the people’s residences comes along with many benefits including spiritual transformation among the locals in the area and minimizing the rate of immoral acts.
She was therefore optimistic that the newly inaugurated parish would help to eliminate the activities of some criminal gangs including the Gaza group that is terrorizing the people in the urban centre.
She encouraged the Christians to embrace the idea of seeking spiritual healing from the church servants that are posted to their respective stations to stay for the benefit of God’s flock.
In a separate development, Kabugho encouraged the parents to prioritize the idea of taking their children to schools so that they get the resources that would lead to the sustainability of the already established churches.
