Six people are nursing seriousinjuries and many others nursing minor injuries at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese Town after getting involved in a road accident that happened this evening along the Kasese – Kikorongo Highway.
The victims are said to have been travelling from Rwimi in Bunyangabu District where they had gone for burial. They met their fate near Kasese Cobalt Company Limited (KCCL) as they were travelling back to Mitooma District.
According to Aloysius Asiimwe, one of the victims, when they reached near KCCL, they met a speeding taxi coming from Kikorongo side and their driver didn’t manage to bypass it.
This caused the canter on which they were loaded to overturn, causing six people to sustain serious injuries while many others sustained minor injuries.
Asked how they managed to reach the health facility, Asiimwe explained that after the incident, well-wishers called an ambulance belonging to Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital that immediately responded.
The victim also narrated to our reporter that the canter on which they were loaded was carrying around 32 passengers.
