Businessman, Benard re-remanded to Mubuku Government Prison

The Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting today at Rukoki has denied bail to business man Mr Benard Chance, and remanded him back to Mubuku Government Prison.

Mr Benard who is the proprietor of Skyz Lounge, a popular hang-out place in Kasese town is battling attempted murder at the same court.

It is alleged that on February 01, 2024 Mr. Ben Chance attempted to knock dead Ms Gladys Ainebyona Nandejje using his car registration number UBD 043A Mercedes Benz at the Kasese Central Police station.

The business man had apparently gone to police to record a statement about an assault incident that had happened at Skyz Lounge the previous night when he entered into an altercation with Nandejje who was the victim of the assault and also an employee of the same club.

Police then allegedly intercepted accused and subsequently arrested him before presenting him in courts of law where he was remanded to prison.

The accused then applied for bail which was today morning declined by the Kasese Chief Magistrate Her Worship Betty Ajok who remanded Ben Chance until March 26 this year.

Counsel Mishele Geoffrey of Bagyenda and Co Advocates, the lawyer of the accused, said that he would file the application for bail in the high court to enable his client get his right to bail since he is yet to be proven guilty of charges is facing.

He was quick to reveal that a key witness in this matter, Ms Nandejje who apparently was almost being knocked down by the accused has since lost interest in the matter.
