BY MATHIUS KAHUNGU

The South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has observed the need for the parents to combine their efforts with the church for the development of schools.

The Bishop sounded the remarks today while addressing the congregation at Mughete Church of Uganda Parish in Kyarumba Archdeaconry shortly after confirming 54 Christians into the Anglican faith.

The Prelate disclosed that the Diocese was having close to 136 primary schools and 20 secondary schools of which 05 are government grant-aided, asking parents to join hands and support the church to build more classrooms at the respective institutions of learning for the enhancement of their children’s education.

The Man of God expressed his disappointment with a section of teachers he said sometimes go to classes while drunk. He appealed to such a category of teachers to always lead by example.

In a written report read to the Bishop by the Parish Vicar, the Rev. Samuel Kule Meso indicated that the rate of school dropouts and early pregnancies was high.

Responding to the concern, the Bishop pledged to support the young mothers and widows through the equipping them with vocational skills in an attempt to enable them earn a living.
