Over 20 youth attached to Kasese Youth Link for Development in Bukonzo County, Kasese district have received piglets with an aim of empowering them economically.
The beneficiaries are from Mithimusanju Youth Link Group, Lyakirema Youth Link Group, Kitsutsu Youth Link Group, Nyakiyumbu Youth Link Group, and Morning Star Kinyamaseke Youth Link Group while others were from Ihandiro, Kisinga and Nyakiyumbu sub-counties.
In his remarks while officially launching the project, Mr. Ronald Kato, the Executive Director at Kasese Youth Link for Development told the beneficiaries who had gathered at Munkunyu Sub-county headquarters that he decided to empower them economically as an alternative means of fighting the challenge of unemployment.
He, however, explained that the received piglets were bought from the members’ saving scheme which aims at economic empowerment as they prepare to join commercial farming.
However, Mr. Kato told the beneficiaries to own the project for the remaining members to benefit, adding that it was revolving.
Some of the beneficiaries including Joy Mbambu, Jenifer Masika and John Kule hailed Kasese Youth Link for development for the project and pledged to work towards its sustainability for the benefit of the targeted audience.
