The Government of Uganda through the Amnesty Commission has officially handed over an Inter-locking Stabilized Soil Block Making Machine to the ADF returnees (reporters) in Rwenzori sub-region.
The donation is part of the activities aimed at involving the ADF returnees (Ex-combatants) in productive ventures for their socio-economic empowerment.
The Block Making Machine with a capacity of producing 5,000 blocks on a daily basis and imported from South Africa was handed to the beneficiaries today at Virina Gardens in Kasese town.

While handing commissioning and handing over the machine to the beneficiaries on behalf of government, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi tasked the beneficiaries to make proper use of the machine in order to help them come out of poverty.
He called upon the people who are still in the bush to come back to their respective homes and enjoy the peace in their motherland Uganda.
Speaking on behalf of the Amnesty Commission, Hon. Henry Basaaliza Araali, the Demobilization and Rehabilitation Team (DRT) leader in-charge of Kasese Region, applauded Kasese District Local Government for allocating five acres of land at Rukoki to house the project.
He, however, warned the beneficiaries against any form of tribalism and favoritism, advocating for transparency and accountability.
Mr. Pedson Kamanyi, the General Secretary for Kasese District Soil Blocks Co-operative Society Limited hailed the government for granting them amnesty, facilitating their rehabilitation and supporting their economic journey. ENDS
