A hearing session that had been organized by the Kasese District NRM leadership to listen to the complaints from the people who were not satisfied by the results from the recent party primary elections for the position of Woman Member of Parliament today flopped.
A statement issued last evening by Mr. Yunus Muhindo, the party’s Publicity Secretary, indicated that they would start listening to the complaints from the candidates who participated on the position of Woman Member of Parliament today morning at the multipurpose hall.
However, our reporter Joackim Kule who was deployed at the multipurpose hall to follow-up the matter reported that police had heavily deployed at the venue to keep law and order among the people who would come a long with their candidates and the officers in-charge of the exercise.
Our reporter also stressed that neither the candidates nor the party officials were seen at the venue by 10:00am.
At around 11:49am, the police officers were withdrawn from the venue.
When contacted on phone, Mr. Robert Mitse, the NRM Administrative Secretary, put it clear that the exercise didn’t take place because the complainant, Ms Mary Marylyn Kabugho didn’t turn-up.
According to Mitse, the exercise couldn’t continue in the absence of the primary complainant who claimed to be in Kampala.
