Mr. Edward Baluku, a 39 year- old resident of Bumbahya village in Kyondo Sub-county who lost all his three children to the recent mudslide that hit a house in which they were living has called for government’s support.

On May 09, Mr. Baluku and his wife Jackline Kyakimwa lost their children including Bridget Biira aged 12, Antonia Kule aged 08 and Edwin Thembo aged 05 and since then the family says it has been left helpless.

The family now needs financial and psychosocial support so that it slowly recovers from stress and trauma.

Baluku and his wife, who are currently encamped at Kanyatsi Roman Catholic Church in Kyondo sub-county, explain that in addition to losing their three children, all their family property including a house, domestic animals and their crop plantations were also washed away during the incident.

However, Dr. Julius Monday Bwambale Rude, the Bukonzo County East Parliamentary hopeful and NRM Chairperson, has pledged to help the grieved family so that it recovers from the trauma.

Commenting about the flood incident, Dr. Rude has since courted the residents to plant trees as the only way through which the effects of climate change could be mitigated.
