Kasese Municipal Council has officially commissioned the construction works of Kamulikwizi – Saluti Bridge, Cathedral Rise Road, Katarasa Road, Nyakasojo and Basecamp – Acholi Quarters Road.
Speaking to the press yesterday shortly after the commissioning exercise, Mr. Chance Kahindo, the Municipality Mayor revealed that they recently received shillings 500 million as road rehabilitation fund and another shillings 150 million for the road fund.
The Mayor noted that the above amount of money has been allocated to the selected roads and bridges and pledged to put the received funds to proper use.
He also said they would plant trees on every road that would be constructed, warning the residents against the practice of leaving their animals loiter in town and cause destruction to the planted trees.
Officiating at the function, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi warmed the contractors against doing shoddy works and encouraged them to ensure value for the government’s money.
