The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese has tipped parents and teachers to embrace giving career guidance to young people when they are still in early school days.
Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku says learners especially in secondary school should be properly guided on the various career pathways and options so that they are enabled to make informed decisions that are in line with not only their God-given talents but also their passion.
The prelate made the remarks during the thanks-giving service animated by St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School at St Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese towny yesterday.
St Paul’s Vocational Secondary School was celebrating the success of candidates in the Uganda Certificate of Education results and thanking God for the new structures of the school.
Bishop Baluku noted St Paul’s Vocational Secondary School had been established at the seat of the diocese to produce skilled God –fearing learners equipped with leadership skills in a country that has been grappling with a high rate of corruption.
The Bishop also revealed that he is working tooth and nail to see that the institution acquires a modern science laboratory and hostels by the end of this year.
Ven. Charles Mbusa, the Sub-dean for St. Paul’s Cathedral noted that the institution has had an environment suitable for learning due to the structures and the professionalism of the teachers.
Earlier while preaching, Ms. Subira Biira, a senior two student at St. Paul’s Cathedral told the fellow students to stay in school and avoid being lured by men who influence them into early marriages.
