The issue of safe and clean water in Bukonzo East Constituency in Kasese district will dominate the political campaigns a head of the 2026 general elections.
Mr. Mwanzi Ndobya, a resident of Kanyatsi in Kyarumba sub-county says that for many years, they are fetching from contaminated flowing rivers and seasonal streams. He was speaking to Mr. Edwin Bayiringa Kugonza, who recently declared his interests to take part in the Bukonzo East Constituency parliamentary NRM party primaries.
Ndobya disclosed that every political period, politicians from different parties throng the area and purport as if they have the lasting solution to address the issue of safe and clean water in the area but in vain.
Cyprus Mwanzi, another resident disclosed that many politicians have for many years have promised that the issue will be addressed.
Mwanzi, a strong FDC supporter adds that this time round, they will not rally behind people with selfish interests.
Kugonza who courageously climbed Bwitho hills was visiting Abasu Abanya-Runono, his maternal uncles to reveal to them his political ambitions and seek for blessings.
Responding to the issue of lack of safe and clean water, Kugonza believes that the area has not been served with water because the constituency has for many years been represented by the party that opposes the government.
He also noted that his intention for the NRM party ticket and the subsequent general election is to connect the people of Bukonzo East to the central government.
