The South Rwenzori Diocese Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has underscored the need for the parents to understand the value of education as they send their children to school

The Bishop sounded the remarks yesterday while preaching to the congregation that had thronged Atlas Model Primary School in Mpondwe –Lhubiriha Town Council, Bukonzo County West in Kasese district during a function in which the institution was celebrating 20 years of existence and the achievements so far registered.

The Prelate, who was the main celebrant, lectured the congregation about the values of education including knowledge enhancement, character formation and reformation of the mind among others.

Quoting the Biblical Book of proverbs 4:13, the Man of God reminded the people of their obligation to safeguard their education jealously, adding that it is their life.

He challenged the business people to prioritize sending their children to school for their businesses to last even after their demise.

A report read to the Bishop, parents and other invited Guests by the School’s Head teacher, Mr. Zephania Muhindo, indicated that they decided to celebrate the 20 years of existence following the achievements so far registered.

The achievements according to him include maintaining the academic excellence at the institution coupled with the excellent performance of their candidates in the secondary schools that they join.

He also noted that they were returning thanks to God for the good enrolment at the institution.

Mrs. Edith Masereka, the School’s Director happily mentioned that since the inception of the school, they have so far produced 405 candidates in Division One who are all excelling in the various fields of work.

Started as a Hotel and Guesthouse, Atlas Model Primary School was established and founded by the Late David Masereka Mutahunga and his wife, Edith Masereka in 2004.

According to the Director, they decided to turn the Guesthouse into a school after failing to achieve their vision of only hosting legally married couples.
