BY JOACKIM KULE

The Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County has assured parents of good security of their children at some schools located along the Mpondwe –DRC border.

Yesterday, schools countrywide officially opened their doors for first term and according to Lt. Maate Magwara, the turn-up of learners at some schools that he personally visited in Bukonzo County West was promising, assuring the parents that security operatives were more than ready to protect the learners.

Some of the schools that the Deputy RDC visited included Bwera Secondary School where 400 students reported on the very first day, Mpondwe SDA Primary School where 131 out of 585 were present and Mundongo Primary School where 815 out of 1400 had turned up.

He, however, called upon the parents to continue sending more children to their respective schools early enough so that they catch up with those who have already reported.

He used the same platform to encourage the management committees of institutions that are offering boarding facilities to coordinate with the Inspectors of Schools for guidance on the requirements as guided by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

The President’s representative also appealed to the proprietors of private institutions to allow parents pay school fees of their children in installments during the course of the term.
