A boda- boda rider was today afternoon knocked dead by a vehicle at Nyamirangara along the Kasese – Kikorongo on Muhokya Town Council, Kasese district.
The deceased has been identified by his relatives as Posiko Kiketha, a resident of Kibalya village in Mahango sub-county.
The incident that happened at around 2:30pm involved a SINO Truck registration number UBK 456F red in colour and a motorcycle registration number UFT 033F hunter CT express that was being ridden by the deceased. One other person who was a passenger on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town.
Mr. Robert Guma, the Chairperson Local Council III for Muhokya Town Council, who rushed to the scene, confirmed the incident to our reporter but didn’t easily identify the victims.
He subsequently encouraged the road users to always follow some traffic rules especially when using Highways.
Mr. James Mumbere, an eye witness told our reporter that the incident happened when the cyclist tried to overtake the vehicle at Nyamirangara junction little knowing that it would divert from the Highway heading to Nyamirangara stone quarry.
By press time, police had transported the body of the deceased to Kasese Municipal Health III mortuary for a postmortem examination.
But when our reporter contacted the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, he said he was not in his office and neither could he confirm the incident. ENDS
