A mini- conference of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders in Kasese has resolved to put to an end the two party factions of Katonga and Najjanankumbi and reunite the party members under one umbrella of “One Uganda, One People” with its National headquarters at Najjanankumbi.
The leaders comprising the District party Executive members and all sub-county party representatives across the district today converged at Ruben Village the Lounge in Kasese town and jointly resolved to follow the Najjanankumbi FDC ideology.
Addressing the press shortly after the conference, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese District FDC Chairperson said as a high council of the district, they decided to call for a sensitive conference of all the party leaders after spending seven months in total confusion with the members failing which party faction to subscribe to.
The Najjanankumbi faction is led by the party President, Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat and the party Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi while the Katonga faction is led by Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago and party founder President, Dr. Kizza Besigye.
At the press conference, Mr. Kabuku explained that as party members from Kasese district, they do not want to be of the factions but resolved to work for FDC as a party with its head offices in Najjanankumbi if they are to revive the lost glory of the political party.
They also called upon the party leaders at national level to only spread the gospel of FDC but the two factions as they come to Kasese, suggesting that the same should be done in other areas of the country.
In her remarks, the Kasese District Woman MP, Florence Kabugho, who also represented the Bukonzo County West MP, Godfrey Atkins Katusabe and Bukonzo County East MP, Harold Tony Muhindo at the conference agreed with the resolution made by members and urged them to work for FDC of One Uganda, One People.
Hon. Robert Centenary, the Deputy party President in-charge of Western region likened some supporters who are still following the Katonga faction to a school that has candidates without an examination centre number.
The mini-conference was graced by the National FDC (Najjankumbi) Chairman, Mr. Jack Sabiti who, however, declined to speak to the press during the conference. ENDS
