Omusinga Charles Wesely Mumbere Irema-ngoma has expressed concern over the rate at which the people are selling off their pieces of land rather than investing in buying more for a sustainable settlement and household development.
Omusinga who was addressing the press yesterday at his palace in Kasese town observed that land is a key factor of production and thus it plays a critical role in the development of any household.
He advised Rwenzururu Kingdom subjects to jealously protect and guard their pieces of land reiterating that whereas it is easy to dispose off land, it is quite difficult to re-acquire it.
Omusinga urged the local leaders to sensitize the people about sustainable land use management and the process of acquiring titles as one of the ways to end grabbing.
Omusinga also appealed to the youth to embrace hard work and desist from practices that could ruin their future.
He majorly warned them against premarital and unprotected sex, noting that HIV/AIDS remains a scourge claiming several lives.
The Rwenzururu King also vouched for the need to ensure mandatory testing of all partners who intend to marry before they are wedded. ENDS.
