The Omusinga Charles Wesely Mumbere Irema-ngoma has disclosed that the kingdom is in the final stages of gazetting land that will accommodate the Rwenzururu Kingdom’s royal cemetery.
Omusinga disclosed the kingdom’s plans today afternoon while addressing the press at his palace based in Kasese District.
Omusinga was responding to the public speculations and an alleged confusion that erupted during the demise of the Chief Princess-Rubugha Asinace Muhindo Kunihira Kibanzanga, where the decision on where to bury her body became a matter of public concern.
Omusinga Mumbere indicated that it is true the decision to bury in Kasese was reached after he made a royal directive after some people had wanted the body to be buried in Kirindi of Bundibugyo District.
He clarified that the kingdom is already in the final phase of gazetting a place where all members of the royal family would be buried and appealed for calm among subjects who were disturbed by the recent developments at the funeral of the deceased chief princess.
Omusinga also clarified on why the kings do not appear at the burial, noting that their presence at any funeral would have cultural ramifications before extending his gratitude to subjects and central government who condoled with the family during the 14-day mourning period.
Omusinga also condoled with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and government of Uganda for the demise of the former 2nd Deputy Prime Minister, the late Gen. Moses Ali. ENDS.
