Jeremiah Kule, a 30-year-old blind man who secured admission to pursue a Bachelors of Laws at the Mountains of the Moon University is currently facing financial constraints characterized by failure to raise money to buy a braille machine and braille paper to help him write notes.
Kule, who was born on March 11, 1996 to Mr. Emmanuel Makombo and Margaret Muhindo of Nyamighera village in Nyakiyumbu Sub-county, Bukonzo County West in Kasese District, is now a resident of Kanyughunya village in Kisinga Sub-county.
He made the revelation today while addressing students at Kasese Technical Institute during the Vocational competitions and fair.
Kule, who studied at RAPCD Primary School in Kasese Municipality from 2010 to 2015, later joined Saad Memorial Secondary School for both “O” and “A” levels.
Despite his visual impairments, he excelled and secured an admission at the Mountains of the Moon University.
He, however, says that to manage the course, he needs a braille machine that costs between 3.5 million to 6 million shillings and a braille paper.
According to him, attending lectures and sitting exams will nearly be impossible without the braille machine and braille paper.
Kule, on the other hand, encourages the parents with children living with disabilities to enroll them to the respective schools for studies, arguing that disability does not mean inability.
