Parents and leaders of Base Camp Upper Cell in the Central Division of Kasese Municipality have welcomed the government’s efforts towards improving infrastructure in public schools, noting that it is among the strategies of motivating the children to love education and stay in schools to complete their studies.
The parents and leaders’ applause to the government was raised today afternoon during a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a-two classroom block at Basecamp Primary School located in the area.
The building, funded by the Central Government under the School Facilities’ Grant (SFG), will consume shillings 120 million.
Zephanus Baluku Mbakwanda and Gideon Kule, both parents at the institution, explained that whereas they still need more classrooms, the new ones will help to change the image of the school and motivate the learners to stay there.
Mr. Selevano Kiribyunza, the School’s Head Teacher, noted that the building under construction would enable them to have enough space to accommodate the learners whose numbers grow annually.
The Kasese Municipal Acting Principal Education Officer, Tobia Kyomuhendo, explained that the government was committed to supporting schools with the necessary requirements to support the learning process.
The Kasese Municipality Mayor, Chance Kahindo, challenged the parents to appreciate the efforts of the government in extending quality services within their reach.
Kahindo encouraged the communities of Kasese to be patriotic and embrace the programs of government including free education irrespective of the political parties that they subscribe to.
The Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi, who was the chief guest at the ground-breaking ceremony, encouraged the teachers to ensure giving quality services to the learners in an attempt to account for the funds that the government injects in schools.
