BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

High Court in Kasese District has temporarily halted the Office of the Prime Minister from proceeding with the work of opening the boundaries of the 200 acres of land that it allegedly bought in Bwenanule – Kinyabakazi to resettle the flood victims encamped at Muhokya.

Recently, the Office of the Prime Minister reportedly instructed the Kasese District Lands Office to carry out the work but the residents contested the move, requesting for a private surveyor.

Today morning, officials from the District Lands Office went to the scene to go on with their work but they were served with an injunction order stopping the process from going on until March 19, 2026, the date on which they will hear the matters surrounding the land in question.

Samuel Musabuli, the area L. C I Secretary says they served the document today as the team as the team had arrived to commence with the activity.

Jimmy Baluku, the Kasese District Lands Officer who was the Head of the team that had come to open the boundaries, acknowledged receipt of the injunction order. He told the residents that would not proceed with the process since the document was from the courts of law.

He quickly told press that the aim of the exercise was only to open the boundaries, establish the people on the said land and open spaces to make a comprehensive report to the Office of the Prime Minister.
