Members of the NRM Main Stream in Kinyabindi Cell, Muhokya Town Council in Busongora County South, Kasese District have demanded for proper accountability of the funds that the Party Secretariat allocated to them to facilitate their conferences as part of mobilization for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 General Elections slated for January 15.
According to them, the NRM Party released the money to facilitate conferences at parish levels but they were allegedly not given all the funds as they were allocated to them to facilitate the 63 participants from the cell.
Sources indicate that the money that came from the centre was to be given to the members, with each receiving shillings 10,000 for transport, shillings 2,000 for refreshments and shillings 100,000 was meant to be spent on the venue for the conference.
Abdul Nuru Muhindo, the NRM Chairperson for Kinyabindi Cell, claims that they held their conference on January 03 but he was given only shillings 600,000 for the transport refund of his members without the shillings 2,000 for the refreshments of the members during the meeting.
Other members including Grace Tukundane, the Treasurer for the Main Stream also noted that they were disappointed seeing that the party leadership did not organize conferences at independent parish levels but instead they joined the three parishes that make up the Town Council.
Asked whether he had received the complaints, Brian Kaheru, one of the Coordinators for NRM Mobilization in the Rwenzori Sub-region, acknowledgedreceipt and said he sought clarification from the district leadership which hasn’t given him feedback.
However, Robert Mitse, the Kasese District NRM Administrative Secretary, clarified that the complainants would first seek accountability from their Town Council Party Leadership which was given the authority to handle the expenditure of the said funds.
