Kasese Woman MP calls on the people to embrace saving culture

BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

The Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, Florence Kabugho has reiterated her call to the community members to embrace the saving culture so that the accumulated amount of money is used in future.

Hon. Kabugho reiterated her call yesterday while addressing members from the seven Village Savings and Loans Groups from Kanyatsi – Kithoma Town Council, Kasese district at Kanyatsi Church of Uganda and the members of Obughuma nimani in Karambi sub-county respectively.

The legislator explained that when people embrace the saving culture, they become financially independent, adding that the act also forces the government to come in and offer financial support to such organized groups than individuals.

She promised her support to each organized and registered village group in order to promote financial inclusion among the mothers and fathers for their own benefits and their families.

In his report to the legislator on behalf of the seven Savings and Loans Groups, Milton Kule Mbwarara, who also doubles as the Town Council Chairperson commended the positive contributions of such groups including offering loans to the members to initiate their own businesses.

He, however, disclosed that after initiating businesses, the community members face a challenge of lack of market shelters, poor roads and high taxes especially for those involved in the cross-border trade.

Earlier, the legislator had attended church services at Kibirigha Roman Catholic church and St. Peter’s Kibirigha Church of Uganda where she supported their construction programs. END
