The government of Uganda has identified a contractor who has been charged with the responsibility of completing electricity connectivity project in Busongora County South of Kasese District.
The contractor has been identified as Tesla Technical Services Limited to complete power distribution works in the sub-counties of Karusandara, Kahokya and Muhokya.
The development follows over five years of stalled works when the then contractor abandoned the site.
Busongora County South Member of Parliament, Hon. Gideon Thembo Mujungu who introduced the team of contractors to the local population in the beneficiary sub-counties last evening, explained that he made several follow–ups to the minister for Energy and Mineral Development, who eventually assigned a new contractor who is expected to begin work in October.
Eng. Muhammad Lubega, the Project Supervisor from Tesla Technical Services Limited, noted that all the requirements have been secured, enabling them to start the works without fail.
Lubega committed to ensuring that people in the said areas are connected to electricity before this year comes to an end.
Local leaders and the communities of Busongora County South Karusandara sub-county Chairperson, Mr. Daraus Nzitatira and the Local Council I Chairperson for Kinyateke, Mr. Wilson Bamukoroga welcomed the move, noting that the electricity would spur socio-economic development in the area.
